NIONTIX® gas, or medicinal gas, is used as an anaesthetic and anaesthetic agent:
- •During anaesthesia, in combination with other inhalation or intravenous anaesthetics.
- •For the treatment of short-lasting, mild to moderate pain conditions requiring rapid onset and rapid offset of analgesia.

LIVOPAN®, a medicinal mixture of nitrous oxide/acid, is used in paediatrics, obstetrics and interventional pain. As nitric oxide is poorly soluble in biological tissue and fluid, the medicinal nitrous oxide/oxygen mixture can provide rapid pain relief in clinical use. The gas is also rapidly cleared from the lungs. Safety is further enhanced by
the fact that 50% of LIVOPAN® is nitrous oxide and 50% oxygen, which prevents hypoxia during use.
As LIVOPAN is administered by inhalation, there is no need to insert a cannula or administer intravenous therapy. This means that non-anaesthetists can be responsible for such pain relief/relief, as long as they are trained in the use of the mixture.

In hospitals and clinical care, medical breathing air is mainly used for ventilation and anaesthesia:
- •In the context of respirable therapy or anaesthesia, as part of a fresh gas flow to deliver a gas mixture containing the desired oxygen concentration (FiO2).
- •As a carrier in nebulisation therapy.
- •As clean air in the treatment of immunosuppressed patients, for example in the context of organ or cell transplantation or extensive burns.

Linde Healthcare has developed a complete solution, INOmax® Therapy, for the delivery of inhaled nitric oxide. Our solution consists of a dedicated system for dosing, gas calibration and treatment recording, as well as customer training and support. This ensures the best possible results and patient safety.
The INOmax gas mixture is used in combination with the ventilator and other active ingredients.
To treat neonates ≥ 34 weeks of gestational age with hypoxic respiratory failure and associated clinical or echocardiographic evidence of pulmonary hypertension. INOmax improves oxygenation and reduces the need for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) of the blood.
As part of the treatment of peri- and post-operative pulmonary hypertension in adults and in neonates, infants, children and adolescents (age 0-17 years) during cardiac surgery to selectively reduce pulmonary arterial pressure and improve right ventricular function and oxygenation.

Carbon Dioxide (Medical Device)
Carbon dioxide is used as an insufflation gas and as a cooling agent.
Carbon Dioxide(Medical Device) has various medical purposes. It can be used as an insufflation gas for minimal invasive surgery (laparoscopy, endoscopy, and arthroscopy)
to enlarge and stabilize body cavities for better visibility of the surgical field. Also, in its liquid phase, it can be used to provide temperatures down to -76° C, for cryotherapy or for local analgesia by external application onto the skin surface.
Other medical applications include transient respiratory stimulation and encouragement of deep breathing and coughing to prevent or treat atelectasis.
Lung Test Gases
Lung Test Gases consist of gas mixtures containing a tracer gas. During the test, the exhaled gas
is analysed and differences in the concentration of the tracer gas can be used to measure pulmonary function or lung blood flow. When used in conjunction
with diagnostic equipment, these gas mixtures measure different functions of the lungs to help in assessing patients with serious lung disorders such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or interstitial lung disease.
A typical lung function gas comprises a mixture of carbon monoxide and helium with the balance being oxygen and nitrogen. Carbon monoxide is used to test the transfer functionality of the lungs and helium helps to determine lung volume.
Calibration Gases
Calibration gases are essential to ensure the accuracy of the medical devices that are a crucial part of modern medical care.
Essential medical devices such as blood gas analysers require regular calibration to ensure continuing high levels of reliability and accuracy, and therefore accurate diagnoses and appropriate treatment for patients.
Supporting this important aspect of the operation of medical devices, Linde Healthcare provides calibration gas mixtures according to the specifications of each device manufacturer.
